Your Optometrist in Glenorchy Since 2009

But who am I? My name is Martin Robinson, the owner of Martin’s Eyecare, and to give you some context, I began my career with a deep-rooted belief in the wisdom of the old adage, “prevention is better than the cure.” My professional journey has taken me to diverse corners of Australia, where I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of preventative vision care.

As my career evolved, I owned and managed practices in Queensland, where I was born. I also did some work for the Fred Hollows Foundation, serving remote and regional communities throughout the state, including Cape York and Torres Strait Island indigenous communities.

But in 2006, I made a pivotal decision – I sold up, and embarked on a new chapter by relocating to Hobart. It was a momentous move that would reshape our lives for the better. I’m fortunate to be say that my wife Natalie, and our two remarkable teenage boys, now call Tasmania home.

Our practice was originally located within Elizabeth Hope Priceline Pharmacy. However, it wasn’t long before we found our permanent home, the one that defines Martin’s Eyecare today. Since 2009, we’ve been serving patients from our current location, nestled in the heart of the Glenorchy shopping precinct.

In 2023, Adam Barresi joined our team. Adam graduated with a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Melbourne in 2021 and gained valuable experience in full-scope optometry in rural Mildura, collaborating closely with ophthalmologists. He brings expertise in complex contact lenses, orthokeratology, pediatric optometry, and the management of various eye conditions.

As an eye care professional I take seriously my responsibility to educate our local community. I frequently attend local events and speak about how important it is to take proper care of eyesight and answer all kinds of questions about how to maintain healthy eyes.

Glenorchy Optometrist With a Difference

What truly sets Martin’s Eyecare apart is our status as one of only two completely independent optometrists in southern Tasmania. We can offer a level of personalized care that’s second to none, unrestricted by corporate KPI targets or bound by profit driven optometry franchise policies.

We ensure that eye examinations allow sufficient time to learn about our patients, their eye health history, and their specific eye care needs. We offer a comprehensive range of eye tests, including assessments for glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetes retinopathy.

Martin’s Eyecare also can provide innovative dry eye analysis using our Oculus Keratograph tear analysis equipment from Germany – diagnostic equipment that is exclusive to our practice, here within Tasmania.

And being independent means we can also offer rare and exclusive designer brands to our patients. When you visit our optical store you’ll enjoy an extensive range of over 800 frame choices. We stock some imported brands that you simply won’t find anywhere else in Tasmania, but most of our lenses are sourced from Australian family owned manufacturers. We try to support local jobs whenever possible, without compromising on quality.

From frames to lenses to lens enhancements, there’s something to suit every preference and budget at our Glenorchy optometrist practice.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Martin’s Eyecare stands as a beacon of eye care excellence in Glenorchy and surrounding communities. With a legacy dating back to 2009, we are committed to independent, personalized care, and providing a comprehensive range of products and services.

We strive every day to be the go-to choice for anyone seeking top-notch eye care with a Glenorchy community focused optometrist.
